1. Data Controller

The data controller for this website is the Linear Algebra Card Game team, an independent project developed at Maastricht University.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Ordering the Physical Edition

This website does not collect your email address or any other personal data through a form. The “Buy the Game” button takes you to aanmelder.nl, an external platform operated by a third party. We do not transfer any data to that platform — you are simply navigating to it. Anything you enter there is processed by that provider under its own privacy policy and terms, not this one.

We previously ran a preorder interest form on this website. Those email addresses were never stored in a database — they exist only in the confirmation email sent to you and the notification delivered to our team inbox. If you signed up, you can still remove yourself via the unsubscribe link in your confirmation email or by contacting play@linearalgebragame.eu.

2.2 Analytics Cookies

If you accept analytics cookies, we use the following services to understand how visitors use our website:

• Google Analytics (GA4) — collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, session duration, device type, and approximate location (country level). Cookies set: _ga, _ga_*. Retention: 2 months.
• Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised session replays (clicks, scrolls, mouse movements) and heatmaps to help us improve the user experience. Form inputs are masked to prevent recording of personal data. Cookies set: _clck, _clsk, CLID.

These cookies are only set after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner. No analytics data is collected if you reject cookies or do not make a choice.

2.3 Vercel Web Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated pageview data (such as page URL, referrer, browser, operating system, and device type). This service does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not track individual users across sessions. It runs automatically and does not require cookie consent.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. Note that aanmelder.nl, which handles orders for the physical edition, is not a processor acting on our behalf: it is an external website you choose to visit, and it acts as its own controller for the data you enter there.

5. Data Retention

• Email addresses — we no longer collect any. Addresses from the former preorder form were never stored in a database; they appear only in the confirmation email sent to you and the notification delivered to our team inbox.
• Google Analytics data — server-side data retained for 2 months (configured minimum); browser cookies expire after 2 years.
• Microsoft Clarity data — 13 months (platform default).

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data
• Restriction — restrict processing in certain cases
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior processing

Our website uses cookies only for analytics purposes. No cookies are set until you give consent via our cookie banner.

We also store your cookie preference (cookie-consent) in your browser's local storage. This is not a cookie and contains no personal data.
